Mauricio Negro

Biography

Multidisciplinary visual artist, researcher, writer, communicologist and Brazilian cultural manager. Specialist in Nature, Indigenous Literature, Afro-Brazilian Folk and Traditional Perspectives and Contemporary Poetics. His experimental process relies on a mixture of analog (monotype, pyrography, scratchboard, woodcut, natural pigments, recycled materials, collage, frottage and other resources) and digital techniques.

Currently based in São Paulo, Brazil, he lived briefly in Paris, France. Ex-member of the board of the SIB Council – Society of Brazilian Illustrators and member of the Fundação Nacional do Livro Infantil e Juvenil (FNLIJ): The Brazilian Section of of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY).

Since 1994 his illustrations and books have been published, awarded, cataloged and exhibited in many countries like Argentina, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Ireland, Korea, Slovakia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Mozambique, Russia, Uruguay, Vietnam and others.
